My uncle Omer...

Omer Harold Matteen, 90 of Cloquet, Minn. died at Texas Terrace Care Center in St. Louis Park, Minn. on Nov. 25, 2005. He was born on May 16, 1915 in Wrenshall, Minn. to Oscar and Marie (Devos) Matten.

He married Floris (Tudy) White on August 3, 1935. They had 7 children. Omer retired from Potlatch in 1977 after 25 years. After retirement he worked many jobs, he was a volunteer driver for Arrowhead Service and a park attendant at the Cloquet Athletic Park. Omer was the original owner of Iverson Inn. Omer and his wife enjoyed traveling, dancing and their family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Floris and son Harold.

Omer is survived by his children; Marcene (Harold) Larsen of St. Louis Park, Darwin (Pam) of Florida, John of Cloquet, Ardis (Ray) Brown of Louisiana, Lola (Ervin) Pettit and Mary (Ron) Ranta of Carlton, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brother Morris (Josie) Matten of Brainerd, sister Clara (Don) Bulfer of Farimont, Minn., and many nieces and nephews.

VISITATION:1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005 funeral service in Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave, Cloquet. Private family interment in Sandy Lake Cemetery, Blackhoof Township. Arrangements with Handevidt Funeral & Cremation Service, Cloquet 218-879-4636.
