She married John Minor Estes Sr., son of Martin Van Buren Estes and Lou Mary Sharp, on 3 Mar 1888 at Atlanta, DeKalb Co., GA. She lived in 1897 at Stone Mtn., DeKalb Co., GA with her children while her husband, Minor was working in Key West. They lived in one of the houses on Venable Bros. Quarry property, near the Venable summer home, "Mont Rest". The white colonial was on a road, that came off the old Route 78, just past the carving. Lucy and Myrtice were both born in Stone Mountain. Nimmo agrees with me that Grandmother, Elizabeth Venable Mason would have wanted her Cousin Lula to be close to the family while her husband was away. Lula appeared on the census of 5 Jul 1900 at ED 16, Stone Mtn., DeKalb Co., GA; is listed as Lucy Estes age 29, born GA; with husband, John Minor Estes, 32; children, Lela C 11; Corrie 8; John M. 5; Lucey B. 2, and Myriis 9/12. She appeared on the census of 1920 at Kirkwood, DeKalb Co., GA; is listed in the Ancestry Index as Cates but the Census shows Estes: John M Estes, 52; Sary L , 48; John M, 25; Lucy B, 22; Myrth E, 20; Louise,16; Sarah, 8; and John M, 2 6/12.
