Fought for the North
Richard M. Allen, aged 60 years, died at the residence of C. W. Ganong in this
city Sunday night. The deceased was born at Palmyra, Missouri, enlisted with the
Northern forces and participated in many of the important engagements of the
Civil war. He was unmarried and is survived by three sisters, as follows: Mrs.
C. W. Ganong, Oregon City, Mrs. Thomas Miller, Oregon City; and Mrs. W. M.
Shepperd, Barlow. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church
Tuesday and burial was had in Mountain View Cemetery.

His residence was not listed when he enlisted as a Sergeant (date unknown).

Intra Regimental Company Transfers:
from company E to company F.

He also had service in "E" Co. OR 1st Cavalry.

He died in Clackamas County, OR.
Federal Pension Information:
He applied for a pension on 6/19/1891 from the state of OR-application # 1,032,613

Richard M Allen enlisted in Co. F, 1st Oregon Cavalry, in 1862 and served until
1865. He was 19 at the time of his enlistment.
