Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, at 2 p. m. in the Elsinore ward chapel for Mrs. Gunel Newman Christensen who died Sunday morning at her home in Elsinore after a long illness.
Dorthea Gunel Marie Newman Christensen was born March 10, 1879, at Monroe, a daughter of Lars and Inga Marie Hansen Newman. She lived at Monroe until 1901, when she married Jens Peter Christensen in the Manti temple and went to Elsinore to make her home. Mr. Christensen died in 1920, leaving five children for Mrs. Christensen to care for.
A faithful member of the L. D. S. church, she served in in various capacities in the ward. She sent a son George Christensen to Denmark on a mission. Surviving are two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Kathleen Christensen, Laura, George, Chris and Arthur Christensen, all of Elsinore; six grandchildren; three brothers, Lars, Hans and Yergen Newman and two sisters, Mrs A. L. Anderson and Mrs. J. H. Liborius.
