Pleasant's mother was Hannah Conrad Vance.

His obituary says in part:

"Pleasant Vance, 82,...was remarkably well preserved for a man of his years, and had been active up to the day of his retirement," which was New Year's Day 1923. He had a stroke the following day and died at home January 27th.

Pleasant & Amanda's son, Forrest, invented fold-aside bleachers and founded The Universal Bleacher Company...yea, Team Vance!

The Vances were also part of the Underground Railroad near Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia ~ "...follow the drinking gourd." We, as most involved, were only passed info by oral history; but I believe it was Pleasant's Uncle John Vance ~ a cooper born in 1795 and married to Maria Ewing in 1818 ~ whose family was this link.
