Massena, Jan. 18—John Blair, 81, died on Tuesday in an Ogdensburg hospital.

He was born on Sept, 20, 1852 in Dickinson Landing, Ontario, Canada, a son of Mr. and Mrs. January Blair. When about 16 years of age he came to the United States with his parents and they took up residence on the Massena-Winthrop road. On Feb. 12, 1877 he married Miss Sophie Sires, of Alexander, Ont., and they resided for a few years at Racket River Bridge before taking up residence at the present home where they have lived for about 45 years with the exception of about ten years which Mr. Blair spent in Colorado where he had brothers living.

Surviving were a son, Joseph Nelson Blair, of Hopkinton; a daughter, Mrs. Agnes McQuaid, who lived at home on West Hatfield Street; but was in New York City and will arrive home today; two grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Levi Ashley, of Massena, the lone survivor of a family of nine children. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church.

Burial was made in Calvary Cemetery in Massena.
