MIKE ABBRID KILLED ON GUAM

Pvt. Michael J. Abbrid, 19, US Marine Corps, died of wounds received in action in the performance of his duty and service of his country, according to a war department telegram received by the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Abbrid, 73 Ober Street.

The telegram stated that no information was available at the present time regarding the disposition of the remains, but that temporary burial in locality where death occurred was probable.

The Massena Marine was serving on Guam and he died August 5, according to a letter received from the war department.

Private First Class Abbrid was born in Massena, November 5, 1924, attended Massena Schools and enlisted in the US Marine Corps and left for dut and training August 3, 1942. He had six months training before going to the South Pacific. He fought in several major battles, including the Solomons, Saipan, Bougainville.
