Doneta M. Barkhimer, 94, of Taylor Road died at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Four Seasons Health Care Center. Mrs. Barkhimer was born in Columbus on Sept. 13, 1914, the daughter of the late Forrest E. and Edna M. Lawlis Brown. She married Paul W. Barkhimer in Bedford, Ky., June 25, 1932. He preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1989.
Mrs. Barkhimer retired after working 15 years as a receptionist for Dr. William C. Bickers. She was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Columbus Order of the Eastern Star No. 339.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Four Seasons Retirement Center Chapel with the Rev. John Erickson officiating. Calling will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at Four Seasons Chapel. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Arrangements were made by Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street.

Mrs. Barkhimer is survived by a grandson, Craig E. (Victoria) Barkhimer of Columbus; a granddaughter, Amy E. (Morris) Thompson of Campbellsville, Ky.; five great-grandchildren; and caregivers, Pat and Mary Myers of Columbus.
Along with Mrs. Barkhimer's parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John W. Barkhimer; and four half-sisters, Betty Christie, Doris McAnnelly, Florence Hardin and Norma Markley.

The funeral for Doneta M. Barkhimer, 94, of Taylor Road was conducted by Myers-Reed Chapel Thursday at Four Seasons Retirement Center Chapel with the Rev. John Erickson officiating. Betty Hass was organist.
Burial was at Garland Brook Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mrs. Barkhimer's grandson, Craig Barkhimer; her grandson-in-law, Willie Morris; her great-grandson, Terry Thompson; her caregiver, Pat Myers; and friends, Rich Rudder and Terry Pettit.
Mrs. Barkhimer died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 at Four Seasons Health Care Center.
