Walter Raecke Dies In G.I. Hospital -
Walter R. Raecke, Central City attorney, died last Saturday night in a Grand Island hospital where he had been taken early last week for treatment for a heart attack. He had suffered other attacks in January and in the summer of 1958.....Mr. Raecke was 64 years old.
Mr. Raecke was born in Grand Island, attended rural school in Merrick county, graduated from Central City high school and received his law degree from the University of Nebraska in 1917.
He served in World War I and was active in the American Legion, having served as Sixth District Commander and state judge advocate.
He was Merrick County Attorney from 1919 to 1935. He served four consecutive terms in the state legislature where he made a distinguished record. He ranked high in his work in the Masonic lodge, in the work of his church and in many other community and state-wide affairs.
Surviving him are his wife, Orral; one daughter, Mrs. Donald Prince of Minden; two sons, Richard J. of Wahoo and William R. of Lincoln; a brother, Otto A. of Auburn, N. Y., a sister, Mrs. Freeman Bestian of Taylor Ridge, Ill., and 6
grandchildren.
