Wife of David Bryant who was one of the sons of pioneers John and Elizabeth Bryant who settled the area.

She was the daughter of Sallie (Medaris) and James Grider.

Her obituary from the August 15, 1901 Adair County News:

On Friday evening, July 27, the angel of death entered our community and claimed for its victim one of our oldest and best beloved members - Mrs. Sally Bryant. She was born May 12, 1816. She was married to David Bryant about 68 years ago and to them were born twelve children, all of whom are living but one. She was a good mother and grandmother, always giving good advice. She was dearly loved by her children and her cheerful voice will be missed and her deeds of kindness long be remembered by every one in the community. The funeral services were conducted by Revs Breeding and Murrell after which the remains were interred in the family burying ground to await the resurrection of the just.

From the May 6, 1914 Adair County News:

Long Life Family.

Mr. David Bryant [Sarah's son], who lives in the White Oak section [of Adair County], was in Columbia a few days ago and gave us the following concerning the history of the family from which he sprang: He is a son of David Bryant [Sarah's husband], deceased, who was the father of nine sons and two daughters by the first and only wife [Sarah]. They were all born and reared in Adair county, all of the nine sons are living at this time, and all of them are living in the county but two, who reside in Taylor county. They are all in reasonably good health, and their ages range from 58 to 80 years old. One of the daughters died some years ago. The other one is enjoying good health.

As of 1911, there were 11 children living including both daughters. Sarah E, the youngest, died that October.

According to the elder Sarah's obituary and the 1900 census, one child was already deceased by 1900. With the news article being from 1914, that means two children would have been deceased by then. I've been unable to determine who the deceased child was.
