THE JOURNEY'S END

"I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." John 11:25,

ADAM D. SCHLOTTHAUER

Dr. Adam D. Schlotthauer was born Jan. 8, 1880, in Marion County, Kans. In the fall of 1889 he came to Washington State with his parents and settled near Farmington. Before moving to Washington the family united with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and while yet a young boy, the, deceased united with the faith of his parents. He attended Walla Walla College, and on April 13, 1902, he was united in marriage with Mary Getzloff, at Wilcox, Nebraska. Their home was blessed with one child, Cecilia Eleanor.

Two years after his marriage the family was sent to Friedensau, Germany, where he served as a missionary for the cause which he had espoused as a boy. On his return from Germany, because of failing health, he took up farming and at the same time continued his education. He later entered Walla Walla College again, where he completed his premedical training, and was later graduated from the medical course at the College of Medical Evangelists at Loma Linda, Calif., in 1918. Following his
graduation he practiced medicine in the State of Washington, locating first at Toledo, and later accepting the responsibility of superintendent at the Walla Walla Sanitarium and Hospital. It was on June 24, 1924, that the doctor and his family moved from Walla Walla to Newport, Wash., where the family has since resided. Mary Getzloff Schlotthauer died Feb. 2, 1939. During his residence in Newport the deceased served as county health officer of Pend Oreille County for approximately twenty years until last autumn, at which time he resigned. On June 2, 1940, Dr. Schlotthauer was united in marriage with Lilah Genevieve Godfrey at Walla Walla, Wash.

Dr. Schlotthauer passed away at the Deaconess Hospital, July 16, 1945, at the age of sixty-five years. The deceased leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Lilah Godfrey Schlotthauer; his daughter and her husband, Doctors Cecilia and Elmer Lee; their two children, Adam Henry and John Elmer; two sisters, Mrs. Mary A. Koch and Mrs. Adena Kambich; and six brothers: H. A., of Visalia, Calif.; D. A., of Moscow, Idaho; J. A., of Tehachapi, Calif.; John, of Bakersfield, Calif.; Carl and Ezra, both of Fresno, Calif.
