Mrs. MacFarlane, Mother-in-law of J. F. Hummer Dies
Mrs. Hattie A. MacFarlane, 79, mother-in-law of J. F. Hummer, assistant superintendent of schools, died Saturday afternoon at her home, 853 Ackerman Avenue. She was the widow of Dr. William A. MacFarlane. Mrs. MacFarlane was born in Pike, Wyoming County. After her marriage she moved to Springville where Dr. MacFarlane was a practicing physician more than 25 years. Following his retirement, in 1920 the couple moved to Redlands, Calif. Mrs. MacFarlane came to Syracuse in 1930, three years after the death of her husband. She was an active member of the Park Central Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John F. Hummer and Miss Marguerite MacFarlane of Syracuse, and three grandsons, Jack W. Hummer of Binghamton and Robert W. and William M. Hummer of Syracuse. Services will be conducted at 2;30 P.M. Monday at the Fairchild & Meech Funeral Home, 500 West Onondoga Street, the Rev. Dr. Ray Freeman Jenny officiating. Burial will be at Redlands, CA.
