Obituary for Mrs. J. C. Bolyard. Preston County Journal. Kingwood, WV. Thurs., April 26, 1945.
Abstract--Mrs. Mary Ashby Bolyard, 73, died April 17, at her home in Tunnelton. She was twice married, her first husband, Charles Ashby, died several years ago. She is survived by her second husband, J. C. Bolyard, who is critically ill in Myers Clinic at Philippi. Also surviving are one son; Monroe Ashby, Newburg; six daughters, Mrs. Flossie Lee and Mrs. Eva Sanders, both of Newburg; Mrs. Ruth Ball, Bridgeport; Mrs. Helen Jaco, Fairmont; Mrs. Irene White, South Charleston, and Mrs. Louise Nine, New Brighton, Pa.; one foster son, Delbert M. Shaffer, seaman second class serving in the Southwest Pacific; two foster daughters, Mrs. Julia Wilson and Mrs. Hazel Watkins, both of Tunnelton; three brothers, James Mitter, Detriot; Joseph Mitter, Newburg and Charles Mitter, Independence; three sisters, Mrs. Hannah Wright and Mrs. Julia McCool, both of Newburg, and Mrs. Eliza Harrington, Fairmont. Burial was in Shay's Chapel Cemetery.
