Charles C. Putt, venerable Saxton resident and a former engineer on the Huntingdon & Broad Top Railroad, died Saturday, December 26, 1959, after a brief illness of the infirmities of old age. He was aged 90 years. Born at Saxton July 22, 1869, he was a son of Samuel and Elizabeth. (Claybaugh) Putt. On September 20, 1899, he was married to Susannah Elizabeth Crooks who died June 8, 1854. Four generations of descendants survive. Children are: Samuel, William, Bernard, George, Mrs. Clifford (Ruth) Kelly, Mrs. Paul (Alma) Baker, all of Saxton; Theodore, McConnellstown. One daughter preceded him in death. There are 29 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Lettie Sanderson of Johnstown also survives. He was a member of the Church of God. He was a stone mason by trade and employed by the Huntingdon & Broad Top Railroad as an engineer for several years. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 29, at 2 p. m. in the Masood Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with the Rev. Glenn Hostetter officiating. Burial, will be in the Fockler cemetery.
