Jessie Ruth Hollis Hilton of Panama City, FL, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Covenant Hospice, Bay Medical Hospital in Panama City, FL. Mrs. Hilton was the daughter of Charlie Frank and Ina Ophelia Hollis. She was born January 3, 1922, in Roanoke, AL. She was united in marriage to Ross Howard Hilton, Sr. in September 1941 and was married 52 joyous years.
Mrs. Hilton retired from Sears after 35 years. She was a member of Calloway Assembly and very active in NAICJ Prison Ministry.
She is preceded in death by her husband in May 1994, by her parents and two sisters, Reba (Hollis) Thomas and Sue (Hollis) Lindsey.
She is survived by her children, James F. & Rebecca (Hilton) Hagood, Tallahassee and Ross H. & Dorothy (Garrett) Hilton, Panama City; 4 loving grandchildren, Harry & Stephanie (Hilton) Monge, Nebraska, Frank & Colleen (Lovern) Hagood, Florida, Thomas & Holly (Hagood) Lawhon, Florida, and Jerry & Shari (Hilton) Peoples, Georgia; 9 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Shelly Fred Hollis.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at Kent Forest Lawn Chapel, with Pastors Dewey Myers and Bobby Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, September 17, 2012, at the funeral home.
