GENOA — Lorena Ruth Ditter, 94, of Genoa, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012, in Genoa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Pastor Murray Johnston officiating.
Interment will be in the Friend Cemetery, rural Genoa.
Lorena was born Jan. 22, 1918, to Herman and Olga (Depe) Becher in rural Columbus. She attended school through the eighth grade, at which time she stayed home to raise her younger brothers and sisters. Lorena spent several years as a nurse at the Columbus Hospital and later was a private home health care nurse.
On May 12, 1947, Lorena married Godfrey Ditter at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. While Godfrey served in the armed forces, they lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. They lived in Lincoln until Godfrey graduated from the University of Nebraska. They then lived in the Shell Creek-Platte Center area prior to moving to Monroe.
Lorena is survived by two sons: David Ditter, of Tecumseh, and Andrew Ditter, of Genoa; two daughters: Dorian (Dan) Kaspar, of St. Edward, and Anita Kaspar, (Steve Watton), of Genoa; one sister: Florence (Glenn) Konrady, of Ida Grove, Iowa; and Marie Rush; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Godfrey, in 1988; brothers, Harry, Milton, Albert Walter and Dietric Albert; sisters, Alyce Ernst and Edythe Bembry; and granddaughter, Michele Werts.
Memorials in Lorena's name are suggested to the Monroe United Methodist Church or to family's choice.
