Census records show his residence in 1850 as Chatfield, Crawford, Ohio. His residence in 1910 was Liberty Township, Mercer County, Ohio

His mother was from Germany. He was hard working & obedient to his parents, kept from school to carry on farm work.

He was a good farmer who planted a large apple orchard and had cherry, peach and plum trees. He had a "green thumb" and everything he planted grew. The family prospered and had many friends in the community.

Know he voted for Lincoln.

After Harmon Edward was born moved to Auglaize County and bought a farm. About 1880-1 they bought a farm in Liberty Township, Mercer County OH.


His wife, Christena, died in childbirth,13th child, at the age of 45, and so did her baby boy. John never remarried and passed away at his son, William's house in Mercer County, of cancer of the hand.
