Orville was born on Blantonia Plantation which became Greenville, MS. Orville served as a civilian surgeon attached to the 1st Louisiana Artillery during the Seige of Vicksburg. Orville returned to Greenville after the fall of Vicksburg since he was the city's only doctor. Orville was married twice, 1st to Sarah Mead of Frankfort, KY; 2nd to Martha Rebecca Smith of Greenville on Feb 7, 1854. Orville owned Belle Aire Plantation located NW of present day Greenville on Bachelor's Bend. His known children were Belle Orville, Georgia Greenway, Lola Angeline, and Charlotte (from his first marriage).
