Mrs. George (Zita) Turrish, 95, 2141 Main St., died Sunday morning at St. Michael's Hospital, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas Mullen will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call now at the Boston Funeral Home. The Catholic Daughters of America, of which she was a member, will join with the general rosary at 8:30 p.m. Mrs. Turrish was born June 16, 1883 in the town of Lanark, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Bowden. She grew up there and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She taught grade school in Portage county for about six years. She married George T. Turrish on Nov. 25, 1906 at St. Stephen's church. The couple settled in the town of Buena Vista and farmed until moving to Stevens Point in 1922. They lived on Center Street. Mr. Turrish died on April 8, 1964, and she had recently been living with her daughter Margaret Leahy. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Francis L. (Catherine) Roman, 3217 Welsby Ave., Mrs. Walter (Alice) Kay, Rhinelander, Mrs. Weldon (Margaret) Leahy, 2141 Main St., Mrs. R. O. (Elinor) Frankow, West Bend, and Mrs. Claude (Nan) Mackaben, Wisconsin Rapids; 19 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Two sons, one brother and four sisters preceded her in death.
