disease.

I came across the following obituary on Family Search. It did not cite the
actual newspaper from which it came, but it was an actual picture of the
newspaper clip. His death certificate says that he passed away on January 4,
1994. That date has to be wrong, as his obituary is dated January 3, 1994.

R. Burton Bateman, 89, 1004 New Street, Washington, died unexpectedly at the
Daviess County Hospital at 11:55 p.m. Monday.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Poindexter-Hall-McClure
Funeral Home, Washington, with the Rev. Doug Wallace officiating. Interment
will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday
at the funeral home.
He was born November 17, 1904 in Knox County to George W. and Nancy Peek
Bateman. He married Marie Jordan March 21, 1935 and she survives. He was a
farmer and was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Beverly Sue Thompson, Fern Creek,
Ky., and one granddaughter.

One grandchild, Leslie Thompson, four sisters and two brothers, Laura Lytton,
Hattie Dillion, Grace Dunn, Imogene Petty and Dick and John Bateman, have died.
