Erastus Dart Dupree moved from GA to Marion County, FL with his parents Gee Dupree & Ann Marie Dart. He and his 3 brothers all served in CSA/Marion Light Artillary. Erastus was also a Sergeant in the Seminole Indian War.
His first wife Nancy (maiden name unknown) was murdered on 22 July 1869. In 1873, he remarried Mary Grantham. He was a cattleman & he and Mary farmed (& grew) thier own food. He also made headstones from sand from his own property, including those of Nancy & Mary which are both buried in Ft. McCoy Cemetery.
His brother, Lucian Dix, married his wife's (Mary) sister, Delilah Grantham Dupree.
