In the early 1900s, he moved to Elk City, Kansas where he homesteaded. He was married to Odessa Chapman in 1905 at Sedan, Chautauqua County, Kansas. They moved to Washington County, Oklahoma in 1906.. They were the parents of nine children.
After the death of his wife, Odessa (Chapman) Anderson, in 1917, Mr. Anderson married Effie Jane DeWitt in 1918. Effie (DeWitt) Anderson died in 1923. Mr. Anderson then married Mary Etta Gibbs in 1924. He and Mary had one child, a son, John Marion Anderson, in 1929.
