The funeral for Keith Sullivan Shepherd, 71, formerly of 123 Lankford St., who died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at the Roxboro Nursing Center, was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in Theresa Baptist Church by the Rev. Herbert Brown, the Rev. Norman Talley and the Rev. Caroll Brackett. Burial was in the Calvary Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Shepherd was a native of Person County, the son of the late Joseph William and Lelia Lila Shepherd. His late brother was Joe Bill Shepherd.
He was a United States Air Force veteran.
He was retired from J.T. Bradsher Plumbing Co. and was a member of Theresa Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Orene Martin Shepherd; a daughter, Jeanette S. Stewart of Richmond, Va.; seven brothers, Jimmy Shepherd and wife, Mary, of Powatan, Va., Moses Shepherd and wife, Clara, of Roxboro, Harold Shepherd and wife, Cleo, of Portsmouth, Va., Noel Shepherd and wife, Phyliss, of Charlotte, Cecil Shepherd and wife, Mary, Arthur Shepherd and wife, Sandy, all of Richmond and Richard Shepherd and wife, Betty, of Selma; a sister, Lila Smith of Portsmouth; and a grandson, Caleb Stewart of Richmond.
Pallbearers were his brothers, Arthur, Cecil, Harold, Jimmy, Moses, Noel and Richard Shepherd.
Anthony Long, Henry F. Martin, Roger D. Martin, Shawn Paul, Caleb Stewart and Lanny Vaughn were honorary pallbearers.
