Benjamin Branch Taylor was the son of Robert Taylor and Eliza "Lizzy" [Branch] Taylor. He married Minerva Ann Elam on 7 December 1837 in Williamson Co., TN. He moved to Rutherford County, Tennessee where he inherited land from his father. In his deposition to the Southern Claims Commission he stated that he owned 286 acres 13 1/2 miles southwest of Murfreesboro, Tennessee with 165 acres in cultivation and the rest as woodland.
He stated that he had lived here since 1861 and the date of his deposition was Jan 1863. He and Minerva were the parents of eight children.
