OCTAVA VAN FOSSEN
Services for Octava Jane Van Fossen, 79, of Arcata, Calif., who died Feb. 19 in Eureka, Calif., will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Watkins North Bend Chapel by the Rev. Richard Cochran of First Presbyterian Church, North Bend. Interment will be at the Ocean View Memory Gardens, Coos Bay.
She was born April 3, 1896, in Roseau, Minn., and had been a resident of the Bay Area for most of her life, recently moving to California to live with her son.
Survivors include a son, Jesse Vandervort of Arcata; two daughters, Leona Bryan of Eureka and Lu Emma Johnson of Wallowa, Ore., a sister, LaVida Barton of Walla Walla, Wash.; four grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Octava Lortie was married to Garrett Vandervort on April 23, 1912 in Union County, Oregon. He died January 23, 1920 in Elgin, Union County, Oregon. In about 1923, Tava was remarried to Walter P. Van Fossen.
