Utah Woman Succumbs At Age of 86
Mrs. Mary Louisa Solomon, 86, widow of the late Alfred Solomon, first bishop of the Twenty-second L. D. S. and early Utah pioneer, died of chronic heart disease Friday morning at her residence, 3561 Eleventh East street.
Although born in Truro, Cornwall, England, on March 21, 1854, she came to Utah with her parents when she was eight years old. As converts to the L. D. S. church, the family crossed the plains from Council Bluffs Iowa, to Salt Lake City in ox carts in 1862.
She was prominent in Relief society work; was an honorary pioneer member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and had been an ardent gardener.
Surviving are five sons and daughters: Mrs. Priscilla S. Taylor of Mill Creek. Mrs. Leah S. Robinson of Coalville, R. H. Solomon and Rud Solomon of Salt Lake City and A. M. Solomon, Burley, Idaho.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 11 a. m. at 36 East Seventh South street, and burial will be in Salt Lake City Cemetery.
Friends may call at the place of funeral from Saturday morning until time of services Sunday.
