GARDNER – Lila Menzies, 90, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on May 26, 2005. Mrs. Gardner was born in Provo, Utah to James and Ethel Menzies. She graduated Cum Laude from Brigham Young University with a degree in Landscape Architecture. She designed many of the grounds for churches and parks in Utah including the Utah State Capital Building. Moving to Los Alamos with her family she served the community in many ways, designing the Memorial Rose Garden and the Los Alamos Golf Course, as well as other sites in Los Alamos. She was a long time member of Los Alamos Garden Club, The Planning and Zoning Board and the Beautification Committee. A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints she also served her community by teaching and working with young children. Lila was preceded in death by son Ronald Gardner, two grandsons her sister Belva MacIntosh and Brother Charles Menzies. She is survived by her husband Ross D. Gardner; children David Ross Gardner and wife Pat, John Douglass Gardner and wife Carol, Gwendolyn Hauer and husband Allan, Lois Ann Prichard and husband Bruce, and Robert James Gardner and wife Jeanne. She is also survived by her sisters Lois Menzies and Elaine Bogus of Provo, Utah; twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be held Tuesday May 31, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1967 18th St, Los Alamos.
