Son of Samuel William Lanz and Elizabeth Huersch

Husband of Marie Louise Allard, married 20 Nov 1815 in Quebec, Quebec, Canada

The parish register of Rohrbach, Bern, Switzerland, shows that Samuel Lance was christened on 25 March 1785 in Rohrbach, Bern, Switzerland. He did not die in Nauvoo. The Saints left Nauvoo in February 1846, and Samuel left Nauvoo also.

From the Journal History of the Church, Film 1259735; Doc. Hist. 1846: 196, 26 Aug 1846: "Wednesday, August 26, 1846. Council Point...Samuel Lance drew twenty-five dollars, and said, that his wife Mary would not give her consent to let it remain . . ." Samuel's death, probably somewhere in Iowa, would have had to have been after that date, but before his wife married William Draper in Kanesville, Pottawattamie, Iowa, on 2 Jun 1849. On March 20, 1853, in the President's Office in Salt Lake City, William Draper and Marie Louise Allard (Mary Elloy) acted as proxies for each other's companions as William was sealed to Lydia, his first wife, and Marie (Mary) was sealed to Samuel.
