July 25, 1978 - Carroll Daily Times - Mrs. J.J. (Margaret) Lappe, 96, of 206 S. Walnut, Carroll, died Monday evening, July 24, at the Carroll Manor. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, at Holy Spirit Church with. Msgr. Leo Lenz. V.F. officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. Rosaries will be recited Wednesday at 3 p.m. by the Legion of Mary and 8 p.m.

Mrs. Lappe, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Krausman) Flies, was born February 24, 1882 in Willey. She received her education at St. Mary's School in Willey. Her marriage to Joseph J. Lappe took place February 9, 1904 at SS Peter and Paul's Church. Mrs. Lappe was a lifelong resident of the Carroll area. She was a member of Holy Spirit Women's Guild and the Legion of Mary.

Survivors include one son, Nick of Carroll; three daughters: Susan Nieland of Carroll, Florence Lappe at home and Mrs. Irene Fritz of Omaha; three sisters, Mrs. John (Anna) Lappe of Carroll, Miss Clara Flies of Carbondale, Colo, and Mrs. Kate Grossman of Canute, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great grand grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Tony, Joseph J. Lappe Jr. and Bernard; three brothers; seven sisters.
