Catherine was the daughter of Ignatius Krausmann and Eve Katherina Poesl. She married Frank Flies on Nov 18, 1865 in Freeport, IL. They were the parents of 14 children: Frank, Barbara, Mary, Adam, Anna, Theresa, John, Elizabeth, Catherine, Margaret, Helena, Anna, Henry, and Clara.

Feb 22, 1923 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Frank Flies, 67 years old died at her home in the Fourth ward Monday evening at 9 o'clock after being in poor health for several years. She has suffered several strokes of paralysis during the last few years.

Mrs. Files, nee Catherine Krausmann, was born in Bayern, Germany October 7, 1846. She came to America with her parents when nine years old. They settled at Freeport, Illinois, where she lived until she.was married to Frank Flies, November 18, 1865. Mr. and Mrs. Flies moved to a farm where they lived four years, moving from there to Benton county, Iowa. In 1881 they moved to a farm in Carroll county near Willey. They continued to reside there unitl they moved to Carroll in 1903.

Of the 14 children born to Mr and Mrs. Files, four preceded the mother in death. The following children and the husband survive: Frank Flies, of Canute, Okla.; Mrs. John Hoffman, of Foss, Okla.; Mrs. H.H. Velth, of Scotland, Texas; Mrs. Joe Schreck, of Canute, Okla.; John Flies, of Dedham; Mrs. John Grossman, of Canute, Okla.; Mrs. J. Lappe, Mrs. John Lappe and Mrs Matt Lappe, of Carroll; and Clara who resides at home. She is also mourned bv many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Fr. A.J. Foerstor, will be held Friday at the Sts. Peter and Paul's church.
