Cynthia Ann America Benson was born to Prudence Malinda Clifton (Slauter) and William Martindale Benson on November 21, 1856, in Warren County, Indiana. It is known the family lived in Pine Village, where her older sister, Martha Marinda Maria "Rindie" was born two years previously. Cynthia was the second born child of this union. Her birth was followed by brothers, Samuel Isaac and William Willard, each in turn two years apart. Two more sisters followed these brothers, first Rosa Jane 3 years later and 10 years later, Mary Theodoshia. All children were born in Warren County, Indiana.

On March 15, 1878, the family arrived in Columbus, Cherokee County, Kansas (see father's bio for more information).

Two and half years later, on November 21, 1880, Cynthia married Robert F. Radley in Cherokee County, Kansas. Since Robert was born in Indiana also, it is probable that he followed her to Kansas. Five children were born of this union, all in Kansas:
William H.(Oct 1881- ).
Agnes M. (Sept 1882- ).
I. Earl (June 22, 1886, in Cherokee, Kansas and d. June 28, 1911 in Joplin, Jasper, Missouri).
Rolla O.(Sep 18910- ).
Alonzo R. (1894- ).

Cynthia Ann died on June 17, 1896 in Cherokee County, Kansas, the first of her siblings to pass; she was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her husband and five children; and her father.
