Wanda Lynn Ruple Staley, 88, passed away Nov. 13, 2008. in Vernal. She was born March 23, 1920, the second of two children born to Henry Hod Ruple and Lilly Taylor Ruple.
Wanda spent her childhood at the Ruple Ranch in Island Park, Utah, 27 miles east of Vernal. She married Carl Staley on Jan. 1, 1938, in Vernal. Wanda and Carl had five children.
She was a member of the LDS church and was actively involved with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Uintah Basic Chapter of the Statewide Archeological Society and the Utah State Historical Society.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Billie Untermann; two sons, Hod and Raymond Staley; and a grandson, Ryan Staley.
She is survived by her daughter, Ilene McLean (Darwin Kulland); son, Earl Staley (Kathy); daughter, Linda Fretheim (Mike); five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were scheduled for Nov. 18, 2008, at the Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. A viewing was scheduled for Nov. 17 at the Mortuary and one hour prior to the Nov.18.
Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
