Harold Haughton Best of 621 Parcel Street, New Monterey, died early last evening in a local hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Best was born in Toledo, Ohio and lived in that city until 1945 when he moved to the Peninsula, following his retirement. He and his wife Lola were married in Monterey Feb. 14, 1948. In addition to his wife he leaves a daughter, Miss Ida Frances Best of Monterey; a granddaughter, Mrs. Charlotte Walker of Gibsonberg, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Elva Knisley and Mrs. Althea Thompson of Monterey and Miss Mabel Best of Glendale; and a brother Alfred Best of Toledo, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday in the Paul Mortuary. The Rev. Tod B. Sperling will officiate, burial will take place in Cemeterio El Encinal, Monterey. (Monterey City Cemetery. Monterey Peninsula Herald, August 2, 1952 & Aug 4,1952.
