Rufus was the son of Benjamin Franklin Conant and Amelia Shave. He died at his home in Beloit, Dec. 21, 1942. He was one of the numerous young men trained here by Wilbur Sisson in telegraphy, he followed the profession in Chicago, St. Paul, Fargo N.D., and Denver; in 1920 he established a typewriter exchange at Beloit, which he operated to the time of his death; remains interred here, survived by a son Howard S Conant, a student at Milwaukee State Teachers College, and by a brother George H of Ripon and a sister, Miss Ruby of Ripon.
