Gordon V. Allen, 68, of Lyons Road, Wattsburg, Pa., died on Sunday, November 16, 2008 at his home. He was born in Wattsburg, Pa on October 18, 1940, a son of the late Kenneth and Esther Phillips Allen.
Mr. Allen was raised and educated in the Wattsburg area where he graduated from Wattsburg High School in 1959. Following high school, he served with the U. S. Navy for four years. Following his discharge from the military he was employed at General Electric Company in Erie, Pa., retiring from there in 1996. He was a volunteer fireman and served as the Chief for the Wattsburg Hose Company for several years. Mr. Allen enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and also enjoyed traveling to Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Allen, Roger Allen and David Allen. He is survived by his wife, Rosanne Thornton Allen whom he married in Wattsburg, Pa. on August 1, 1964. Mr. Allen is also survived by a daughter, Theresa Burrows of Beaufort, N.C.; by a son, Daren Allen of Wattsburg, Pa; by a brother, Gilbert Allen and his wife, Doris of Wattsburg, Pa and by a sister in law, Audrey Allen of Union City, Pa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a funeral service there on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Wattsburg Cemetery in Wattsburg, Pa.
