Yewell was the second son and third child of Millard and Tessie Adams. My grandfather, Herbert Adams, his older brother said that he had a talent for music and led singing at Black Creek Baptist Church often. In 1924 and part of 1925 he moved to Middleton, Ohio with some other young men from Black Creek to work in the steel mills there. He returned home in August of 1925 when his mother grew sick and passed away and never went back to Ohio. That November his sister Vela married Louie Logan. After the wedding family and friends went to Gadsden to celebrate. On the way home the car he was riding in overturned pinning him underneath. He was taken to hospital unconscious and died a few days later without regaining consciousness.
