ANNA RUST COX - A resident of Prineville, Oregon since 1938, died November 7 at Ochoco Nursing Home. She was 86 years old. Graveside funeral services were conducted November 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Juniper Haven Cemetery; officiating at the services was Rev. Robert. Clevenger of the Christian Church. Mrs. Cox was born February 20, 1897 near Summersville, Missouri, the daughter of Bernhardt and Auguste Wilke Rust. Anna spent her childhood in Missouri and attended schools in Missouri. She later attended the Teachers Normal School, also in Missouri. On September 16, 1922, she married James Brian Cox in Shannon County, Missouri. Mrs. Cox had taught school at both Boyd's Creek School and the Ink School while living in Missouri. She and her husband moved to Oregon in 1937 and settled in Mitchell, prior to their move to Prineville, Oregon in 1938. Mrs. Cox taught at the Grizzly Mountain School during World War II. Her career since that time was a homemaker. Mrs. Cox had been active in working with the 4-H organization for over 22 years. She was also a member of the Carnation Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She attended the Church of Christ in Prineville. Her many interests included knitting. Survivors include her two sons, James B. Cox and Rust Cox, both of Prineville, Oregon; one brother, Otto Rust of Oceano, California; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1957; her daughter, Anna Mildred, 1931; by her parents and sisters.
