Daughter of John Henry and Isabella (Rook) Gray. Sister of John Henry Gray, who settled on Combs Flat with his wife Rebecca and family in 1876.

Mr. Gray crossed the plains with ox teams in 1852 and took a donation claim in Linn county. He became one of the prominent citizens of the state and was a strong opponent to what was known as the Golden Circle, being more favorably inclined to the Union League.

To Mr. and Mrs. Breese two children have been born, Mary and Ralph.
