LONG
Louiza M. Long was the daughter of Peter L. B. Long (#112650669) and Harriett Smart, who were married on 13 Sep 1857 in Fannin County, Georgia. The Long family can be traced back several more generations.

BROOKS
It is not known, at this time, where David H. Brooks is buried. His wife and several of their children are buried at Bethel Church. There are graves marked only with fieldstones at both Bethel Church and as well as the nearby graveyard referred to as Mountain Cemetery (cemetery #35657). In 2009, I visited these locations myself, and Mountain Cemetery has numerous graves marked only with fieldstones. There was no signage to indicate the cemetery's name. It might have been a part of Bethel at one time. I do not have confirmation that this is true. Mountain Cemetery is on Cason Mountain Road off of Carver Mill Road, approximately .4 of a mile from Bethel Church.

David likely died between 1904-1910. On their 1900 census, David H. Brooks was listed as 74 years old, and Louiza M. Brooks was listed as 37 years old. Their youngest child was born about 1904. Louiza was a widow by 1910.

A story shared about Mr. Brooks. "My grandmother has told me a story about Peter, Josie, Lou and Mr. Brooks coming back from MO. I have no idea when this was and no clue how long they had been gone. Mr. Brooks had been shot and was unable to get around well."

Note about the above story: Peter [Peter L. B. Long], Josie [daughter Josephine Long who married Sollie West], Lou [daughter Louiza Long who married David H. Brooks], Mr. Brooks [likely David H. Brooks]. There is another post by Keith Bailey that may explain why they traveled to Missouri. "Drury had loaned money to Peter Garrett, who also was his nephew, to move to Missouri. Peter had never paid Drury back according to claims made on his will." Peter L. B. Long was the son of Drury Long and Margaret Garrett.

Note about the accuracy of headstone inscriptions. There are many discrepancies regarding dates of birth inscribed on headstones versus what other documentation supports. In some cases, even bible records indicate a different date than headstone inscription.
