Chico Enterprise, Monday, April 2, 1928: "Death Summons Robert J. Mecum. Robert Jefferson Mecum, 75, native of Michigan and a resident of Chico at various times over a period of many years, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Emma Moritz, 422 Hickory street, Sunday morning. Surviving besides the sister are the following children: L.J. Mecum of Portland; Frank and Bert Mecum of Remote, Ore., and Mrs. Elinor Ross. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Westfall funeral home."

Chico Enterprise, Tuesday, April 3, 1928: "Mecum Funeral Rites Tomorrow. Funeral services for Robert J. Mecum, 76, who died Sunday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Emma Moritz, 422 Hickory street, will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the chapel of the Westfall funeral home, the Rev. W.L. Mellinger officiating. Burial will be in the Dayton cemetery."

Chico Enterprise, Wednesday, April 4, 1928: "Funeral Held For R.J. Mecum. Funeral services for Robert Jefferson Mecum, who died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emma Moritz, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the chapel of the Westfall funeral home, the Rev. W.L. Mellinger officiating. Burial was made in the Dayton cemetery. The pallbearers were Fred H. Martin, W.S. Ballinger, S.B. Hendrix, O.J. Odom, E.R. Huse and L.L. Rucker."

He was the sibling of Emma Jane Mecum Moritz.

Susan Mecum's FAG memorial edit notes of Jan 9, 2012 indicate: "I have discovered that both Robert Jefferson Mecum and Emma Jane Mecum Moritz were the children of Jonathan Nelson Mecum and Lucetta Cole."

A 4" high cement border surrounds three graves; Robert J. Mecum and Emma Jane Moritz; along with flat perpendicular wooden marker which is badly charred, unreadable.
