GILBERT O. FOSTER

Gilbert O. Foster, son of Wayne and Frances Foster, was born in Lucas county, Iowa, on October 4, 1877, and departed from this life on Thursday morning, March 21, 1940, at the age of 62 years, 5 months and 17 days. He was in the best of health until the time of his demise.

He grew to young manhood in this vicinity, and was married on August 14, 1901, to Bertha May Neptune, who survives him and who has been a faithful and devoted companion. Three sons and two daughters were born to them, all of whom are living. They are Wayne and Herman Foster of Gowrie, Iowa; Mrs. Frances Goode of Knoxville; Mrs. Merle Mason, of Chariton; and Lloyd Foster, at home.

Mr. Foster was a good citizen, honest and upright in all his dealings, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him because of the kindly spirit which prompted him to many words and deeds of kindness.

Besides his sorrowing wife and children, he leaves to mourn his loss seven grandsons and two granddaughters, Lucille Goode, Wayne Jr., Raymond, Richard and Jerry Foster, Clyde Jr. and Norman Mason, and Billie Lee and Jo Ann Foster; also his mother, Mrs. Frances Foster of Chariton; and four brothers and six sisters; Charles Foster of Akron, Colo.; Mrs. Alma Threlkeld of Washington; Ira Foster and Mrs. Ila Hefner of Colorado; Mrs. Viola Conklin of New York; Mrs. Bernice Victor of Newbern; Leslie Foster of Corydon; Thurston Foster, Roy Foster and Mrs. Lola Clowser of Chariton. His father preceded him in death on July 12, 1927; a brother died in infancy; and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Dora of Lakin, Kansas preceded him in death but eleven days, on March 9, 1940.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals, of Russell, were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Miley Funeral Home, and burial was in the Oxford cemetery.
