Juliana Ivanova was born in Drienov, Slovakia to Andrej and Anna Juhaszova Ivan. She and her husband, John Babinchak, Sr., came to America with their family about 1900 to escape the servitude under Emperor Franz Joseph's feudal system. Tradition says that the Ivan family was "white Russian" and were from the Ukraine. Julia's siblings were John, Bertha, Mary and Elizabeth.
John and Julia settled first in Virden, Illinois where there were other Slovaks, then moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming, and finally to Harriman, Tennessee. They lived on the Palko/Babinchak farm.
Children: John Jr., Mary Ann, Anna, Julia, Andrew, Elizebeth, Joseph and Susan. Susan was the only one born in America.
Julia died near Cleveland, Ohio at the home of her son, John, Jr. Her husband is buried in the Harriman (TN.) City Cemetery. He died in 1945.
