Chico Enterprise-Record, Tuesday, May 19, 1981: "Lesley Cole. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel for Lesley Millard Cole, 85, of Durham. He died Sunday at a local hospital.

Cole was born March 22, 1896, in Bangor, to Luman and Lydia Cole. He was reared and schooled in Bangor. During World War I, he served with the U.S. Army. On Jan. 4, 1922, he married the former Nancy Bradford. They lived in Loma Rica.

In 1926, they came to Durham where they owned and operated an almond ranch until ill health forced his retirement. He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chico Post. No. 1555.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Durham; two sons, Norman of Yuba City and Floyd of Chico; three daughters, Susan Robley of Durham, Leona Ellen of Dayton and Ella Fuller of Grants Pass, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A son, Willis Cole, died during World War II.

Dr. Darrell Byers, pastor of the Mid-Valley Baptist Church in Durham, will officate at the services. The songs 'Closer Walk With Thee' and 'How Great Thou Art' will be offered. Casketbearers will include Wally Bethard, Carl Cole, Merle Russell, Jimmy Snowden, Dave Long and Millard Cole. Burial will be at the Dayton Cemetery.

An honor guard from Beale Air Force Base will provide military honors at the graveside and will fold and present the flag to Mrs. Cole. Friends may visit at Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today."
