Henry Vestern "Dutch" Whitmire,age 86 of Strawbery died Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Cave City Nursing Home in Cave City. He was born July 16, 1922 at Strawberry, Arkansas to John and Daisy Wilson Whitmire. He was a farmer and cattle rancher and a member of the Strawberry Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Velma (Long) Whitmire, one daughter, Mary Jean Bennett, two grandsons, Timothy Wayne Mason and Roger Bennett, one brother, Jack Whitmire and four sisters, Syble Stephens, Virgie Moss, Maxie Lackey and Ivy Burson.

Survivors include, two sons, Ronald Whitmire and Mike Whitmire both of Strawberry, two daughters, Beverly Mason of Jacksonville and Patsy Grissom of Lynn, one brother, Chester Whitmire of Indiana, seven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will begin, Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Strawberry Church of Christ in Strawberry with Tommy Boles and Greg Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward Cemetery located at Strawberry with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Visitation will begin Monday, November 10, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Scott Whitmire, Craig Whitmire, Shane Holder, Ronald Saffell, David Mason and Richard Johnston.

Honorary pallbearers are Jordan Bennett, Todd Johnston, Maynard Ritchie, Tom Penn, Billy Mountland and Kenny Turner.
