CHESTER--- Homer F. Allen, 74 of Route 1, died Monday in a Bleckley County hospital. Services will be held at 3pm today in Trail Branch Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Elder Rubert Nobles, Elder Franklin Bryant, Elder Lawson Bryant, and the Rev. James Burleson will officiate.
Mr. Allen, a native of Bonifay, Fla., lived in Bleckley County 38 years. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe W. Allen and was a retired farmer.He was a member of the Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Lee Grantham Allen of Chester; six sons, Jimmie, Allen, and William, all of Cochran, Charles of Dublin, Billy Ray of Stone Mountain, and Tony of Danville; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Brantley of Chester, Mrs. Fay Cannon of Montrose, Mrs. Mary Alice Scarbrough, Mrs. Caroline Long, and Mrs. Betty Gurr, all of Cochran; five brothers, Boyd of Rochelle, Sylvester and Casey, both of Dudley, jack of Montrose, and Josh of Chester; a sister, Mrs. Cora Rowland of Chester; 23 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
The body will be placed at the church at 2pm today.
Fisher Funeral Home of Cochran has charge of arrangements.
