Aaron moved to Thetford, Orange County, Vermont soon after his brother Joseph settled there. Joseph arrived in Thetford, March 3, 1766. Aaron was the first blacksmith in Thetford.
Aaron married, at Marlboro, Hartford County, Connecticut, February 2, 1768/9, Lucy Strong (1748-1818) by whom he had 4 children: Aaron (1769-1850), Joseph (1771-1842), Lucy (b. 1773), and John (1781-1838).
Aaron served for 12 days as a Private, along with his brothers Sergeant Elihu and Private Joseph, in Captain William Heaton's (Thetford) Company of Vermont Militia from August, 1780 to April 1781, in the alarm at Royalton and twice to Newbery. In October 1780, an enemy force (British and their Indian Allies) raided Royalton, Windsor County, Vermont, burnt the town, and captured a number of people and carried them to Canada.
