Torrence Jaques Ackerman, 79, of Charleston, a retired kindergarten director with Bethany United Methodist Church, died Monday in a local hospital.

The funeral was held in Bethany United Methodist Church.

Burial directed by Stuhr's Downtown Chapel was in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Ackerman was born in Cottageville, a daughter of Francis W. Jaques and Mary Elizabeth Jaques.

She was a graduate of Winthrop University.

She was a member of the Riverland Terrace Garden Club and the Kings Daughters.

She was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

She was the widow of George Richmond Ackerman.

Two Sons;
Richmond J. Ackerman of Edisto Island
Stephen W. Ackerman of Santee;
One sister;
Dorothy J. Kanapaux of Cottageville
Two Grandchildren.
