Mrs. Rose Mapstead Dies at Residence
Mrs. Rose Mapstead, 64, native and life-long resident of San Bernardino, died yesterday morning at her home, 1290 Waterman avenue. She was a member of the San Bernardino Pioneer society.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Mapstead, of San Bernardino;
a daughter, Mrs. Walter Tompkins of San Bernardino;
five brothers, George Bessant of San Bernardino, Fred and Jack Bessant of Los Angeles; Ike Bessant of Bishop, and Joe Bessant of Bellflower,
and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Mapstead and Mrs. Fred C. Chafee of San Bernardino.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from Stephens & Bobbitt chapel and interment will follow in Mountain View cemetery.
Rose's husband, John Richard Mapstead, died 8 months later, on Jan. 25, 1949 at the age of 68 in San Bernardino County, CA.
