INFLUENZA FATAL TO INFANT SON

Rites Are Held Last Sunday Afternoon For Jason Hollis Sykes

Jason Hollis Sykes was born at the Akron Hospital, September 25, 1940 and passed away at his home, northwest of Akron, Thursday, February 6, 1941, at the age of 4 months and 12 days.

Baby Jason spent four weeks of his short life at the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City. He recovered from this illness and was well until he developed influenza a week ago. In spite of all worldly care, he was called to his Heavenly home to rest. Baby Jason was baptized in the Lutheran faith November 17, 1940.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jay H. Sykes; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hultgren and Mr. and Mrs. John
H. Sykes, besides many relatives and friends.

God giveth and God taketh away. Peace be to his memory.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, at 2 o'clock at his home and at 2:30 in the Union Creek Lutheran church, with the pastor, Rev. J.H, Larson, and the Methodist pastor, Rev. W.H. Lease, of Akron, officiating.

Songs were sung by Audrey Ericson, Roger Ericson and Wendell Granstrom.

Interment was in the Union Creek cemetery.

The pallbearers were four cousins, Raymond, Kervyn and Verne Heeren and Dennis Hultgren.
