Soon after graduation, in 1886, he married Millie Marshall (June 5, 1865 – May 26, 1953) on Oct. 19, 1886, daughter of Alfred and Ellen Hazelton Marshall. Her sister Lora stood up with her. They lived in Jackson for many years.
He was employed as a breakman by the Michigan Central Railroad Company.
LaFayette, 57, of Jackson, died at his home 208 Orange Street, Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock. Death was due to a stroke of apoplexy.
Besides the widow, he is survived by one daughter and one son, Mrs. H. VanDenBerg, and Marshall Near, both of Jackson, also 1 grandchild.
Services were held at the home Thursday. The body was taken to Mason for burial.
